Nursing Executive Joins Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital

Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital has named Courtnay Caufield, DNP, RN, as chief nursing officer effective Dec. 30.Courtnay Caufield, DNP, RN 

Caufield brings more than 17 years of experience in healthcare to her new role. Her most recent executive positions included serving as chief nursing officer of Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank and chief nurse executive for Kaiser Permanente Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas, Oregon. She previously served as executive director of Pediatrics and Women’s Services at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. 

“Dr. Caufield is recognized for revitalizing and realigning multiple clinical departments, spearheading hospital construction projects and steering systemwide programs and key growth initiatives,” said Joanne Laguna-Kennedy, MSN, RN, vice president and chief operating officer of Marina del Rey Hospital. ​“She also has led efforts to achieve Magnet designation—the gold standard of nursing excellence—and to empower bedside clinicians and nurses with rewarding work at their highest skill level.” 

Caufield earned her doctor of nursing practice executive leadership from the University of San Francisco, School of Nursing Health Professions. She earned her master of science in nursing administration and bachelor of science in nursing from Western Governors University.

Caufield is a fellow of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (FAONL). She is board certified in healthcare management as a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and will serve on the organization’s Southern California regional board in 2023. She currently serves as chair of the American Nurses AssociationCalifornia’s foundation board and will lead the L.A. Coastal Chapter of the Association of California Nurse Leaders as president in 2023.
