UD hosts conference for educators in partnership with Delaware Department of Education

The Delaware Academy for School Leadership will co-host the fifth annual Women Leading Delaware Education Conference on March 22, 2023, at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, Delaware.

The event is a partnership between the Delaware Department of Education and DASL, which is part of the University of Delaware and housed within the College of Education and Human Development’s School Success Center.

The Women Leading Delaware Education Conference is a networking and professional learning event for teachers and administrators in elementary, secondary and higher education settings. The event addresses issues specific to women and education leadership and provides a powerful opportunity for current and aspiring leaders to convene for an impactful day of connection, reflection and inspiration. Individuals of all genders and backgrounds may participate.

“Women pursuing leadership careers in education face unique challenges,” said Faith Muirhead, director of the School Success Center. “We each deserve a network of strong women leaders affecting change in education. This conference is a beautiful opportunity to disrupt the dominant narratives about women leaders and recognize women leaders as authentic, ambitious, confident, innovative, intelligent, goal-driven, strategic, successful and visionary.”

The event will feature keynote speaker Gracie Branch, associate executive director of professional learning at the National Association of Elementary School Principals, as well as plenary speakers Kendra Washington-Bass and

Kelly Peaks Horner, founders of the Lucy Leadership Project and authors of Unwrapped: The Pursuit of Justice for Women Educators.

For the first time, the event will also include vendors from women-owned businesses.
